I can’t believe in six days I’ll be on a plane, starting what will probably wind up being the biggest adventure of my conscious life thus far.
Aside from collecting my sunscreen and undies into an ever growing to-take pile, this week has been devoted to catching up with and reconnecting to friends. It’s been wonderful to hear from Brooke as she is wrapping up her first quarter of grad school, Jayme as she is settling into living in Santa Cruz once more, and Theadora as she focuses on her health. I’m stoked to have been able to exchange emails with Paige in Borneo this week as well and hope to be able to squeeze in a skype session before I leave the US. I’m so lucky to have such amazing, motivated, strong women in my life! In between riding, running around, paddle boarding with Shayna, and birthday breakfasting with Leo, I’ve also been lucky to reconnect with some old friends from high school. It’s crazy how much everyone has changed but also how we haven’t.
Best of all, Lydia is in town for a few days with her neighbor, Seungwoo! We had the chance last night to have dinner with our longtime friend and vet, Joe, and meet his girlfriend Joann. Since Lydia and Joann are both Mech. E folks, they had a great time relating to one another and the rest of us were immensely entertained listening to animated stories about losing limbs in the shop, obsessing over shiney things, and the comparative inferiority of other types of engineers.
My other family has been in Colorado the past few days celebrating with Zach’s sister Sydney as she gets married! I want to send out a HUGE congrats to Syd and Matt on their wedding! I wish Zach and I had been able to make it to celebrate with you and we can’t wait to see you in the near future! In the meantime I wish you all the best as you begin down this new path together! Much love!
And with that, it is time to ride! Have a great day everyone and be well!
